LeanIn is a program, Under The googles’ Women Techmakers University of Nairobi Chapter, that was initiated by female fourth year students of the School of Computing and Informatics and is spearheaded by Ruth Njeri, Barke Said and Sharon Malio, fourth year students in the same school. It is a program that drives towards mentoring the lower class students (1st, 2nd and 3rd years) in different facets of a Computer Science student’s life and most importantly empowering them as ladies in technology.

The first meeting was held on the 12th of April in the LG001 class with people arriving by 14:10pm and the meeting officially starting at 14:44pm. Unfortunately, just three lower class students managed to make it to the meeting thus the original plan of having a panel to discuss issues was altered to a circular all-involving discussion. It began with the fourth year students introducing themselves with a fun fact.

They then spoke of their experiences through the years in school, the challenges they faced and various pieces of advice the lower class students might implement for efficient study and better handling of the course.

After the fourth years had had their session, the three first year students that were present were given the time to speak of their challenges and ask questions.
