Ms Geek Africa is an annual event organized by Girls In ICT Rwanda and smart Africa. The competition is geared towards empowering girls who study IT related courses and are able to use this knowledge to solve societal problems.

Beryl Esther Nekesa is a second year student at the university of Nairobi, Chiromo campus, pursuing an undergraduate course in Computer Science. She applied to compete among her peers in the  event , which will be held at Kigali, Rwanda from 2nd -10th  May 2018 and she was privileged to be in the top 10 selection among  the  smart Africa member states, to  represent Kenya.

Her proposal was to have the block chain technology incorporated in the digital single market for African countries to allow different parties to enable them carry out transactions in a reliable and transparent manner. The motivation behind this is to eradicate cases of corruption and fraud in transactions so as to have a healthy business environment.

Transform Africa Summit 2018 theme is “Accelerating Africa’s Single Digital Market” with a goal of charting ways to harness technology in creating a single digital Market in Africa, where our people can exchange information and trade with ease through common platforms.
