Michael Kimathi and Bernard Banta, both Fourth Year Students, attended the BlackBerry Jam Europe Conference, organized by Research In Motion UK Limited, at Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre, The Netherlands, 5 – 6 February 2013. The students got the opportunity to learn about technology and entrepreneurship. Among the sessions was “Market Insights, Localization and Giving Your App International Appeal”. This session taught the students about the consumers’ perceptions of actual usage versus perceived usage and how it implicates developers. The students were taken through reviews of apps across different platforms and analysis of users’ profiles and usage. They were taken through reviews and analysis of thousands of apps and the common characteristics of successful apps. The two students are now empowered on how to build market relevant apps. The conference was attended by people from all over the world including Africa, Europe, Asia, US and South America.
