The 7th Annual Research Week of the Faculty of Science and Technology aims to address the pressing need for research that contributes to societal resilience and sustainability. Given the recent global challenges, including the pandemic and economic crises, there is an urgent call for research to support welfare systems and ensure a brighter future. Achieving measurable socio-economic development and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) remains an elusive dream until new knowledge translates into resilient socio-economic support systems. This event will focus on how science and research outputs can guide the application of knowledge for resilience and sustainability. Participants are encouraged to evaluate whether current scientific practices, such as scientific leadership and innovative research, are effectively benefitting present and future generations. These critical issues should be the core focus of the papers, posters, and exhibitions presented during the conference.
The theme for the Faculty of Science and Technology Research Week 2024 is "Harnessing Science and Technology for Resilience and Sustainability of Communities." The conference, scheduled from October 30 to November 1, 2024, will invite abstracts under this overarching theme and several sub-themes. These include Science, Technology, and Innovation in Industry for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation; Accelerating Sustainable Universal Health Care through Advances in Scientific Research, Technology, and Innovation; Promoting Collaborative Scientific Research for Sustainable Utilization of Natural Products; Scientific Research for Sustainable Food Production; and Management of Emerging Calamities, Diseases, and Pests. Additionally, the conference will cover research outputs and applications from basic sciences and practices such as mathematics, meteorology, geology, climate change, chemistry, biology, computer science, and physics. This comprehensive approach aims to foster a paradigm shift necessary for navigating future challenges and enhancing societal resilience.
