The house was built by Ewart Grogan in 1905. the building was later gazetted as a national monument, houses the Institute of African Studies of the University of Nairobi and boasts having hosted important Cabinet meetings, held in the building’s conference room.

The Executive Dean is the academic and administrative head of the Faculty. The responsibilities of the Executive Dean include management of academic affairs, human, financial and physical resources of the Faculty.
