UoN Hosts 2024 PACN Congress, Catalyzing Chemistry Solutions for Africa’s Future"

The University of Nairobi hosted the 16th biennial Pan Africa Chemistry Network (PACN) Congress from October 29 to 31, 2024, bringing together leading scientists, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Africa and beyond. Celebrating its 16th anniversary, the PACN Congress underscored the ongoing commitment of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) to support scientific development and capacity building on the continent.

FST Hosts Landmark Science Communication & Diplomacy Conference

The University of Nairobi played host to the inaugural Science Communication and Diplomacy Conference on October 15-16, 2024, bringing together leading figures from academia, government, and scientific communities. The event, organized in collaboration with the Scientists of Kenya Association (SCOKA), focused on the theme "Effective Science Communication for Technological Innovation and Adoption in Kenya."

Welcome Address to First-Year Students at the Faculty of Science and Technology

The welcome address to first-year students at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Nairobi, delivered by Prof. Lukhoba on behalf of the Dean, Prof. Leonida Kerubo, and Prof. Musembi on behalf of the Associate Dean, served as an important introduction to both the rich history of Chiromo Campus and the academic journey that lay ahead for the new students.

University of Nairobi Hosts 2nd DIES NMT Workshop on COIL

The University of Nairobi, in collaboration with Maseno University, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Leibniz University Hannover (Germany), and Kibabii University, organized the second National Multiplication Training (NMT) workshop on Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). The event took place from June 12th to 14th, 2024, at Kisumu Hotel, Kenya. The workshop focused on the theme "The Role of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and Virtual Exchanges in Promoting Internationalization at Home in Higher Academic Institutions in Kenya."

UON Hosts Groundbreaking Computational Techniques Workshop for Physics Students (SCoTeP-K)

The University of Nairobi's Chiromo campus recently hosted the inaugural School of Computational Techniques for Physics Students in Kenya (SCoTeP-K) from June 17-21, 2024. This landmark event, a collaborative effort between the Department of Physics and the Department of Computer Science, was designed to equip Kenyan physics students with advanced computing skills to bolster research in key national priority areas of science, technology, and innovation.

Samson Lokwakai Wins Prestigious McCall MacBain Scholarship

Mr. Samson Ekeno Lokwakai, an alumnus of the Department of Physics, is one of 10 global recipients of the McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
